Do you enjoy reading? Me, too. Loving books as I do, I always look forward to the Friends of the Fort Worth Public Library’s semi-annual book sale, which started today, Friday, October 23, and continues Saturday, October 24, and Sunday afternoon, October 25. The Chapter 2 Annex, 5318 Trail Lake Drive, Fort Worth, is open from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM. for your shopping pleasure on the first two days, and, on the last day, Sunday afternoon, 12 noon until 4:00 PM.
Admission is only one buck if you are not a member of the Friends of the Library. You can join while you’re at the sale and experience the benefits and perks reserved for members. As a member, you get in free. What a sweet deal!
Even better than the low admission price are the low book, CD, DVD, and audio book prices; hardbacks are one dollar, while paperbacks are a mere seventy-five cents. CDs, DVDs, and audio books are just a dollar each. The only higher priced items are the four dollar “Yellow Dot” coffee table books. Surely, you can find many additions for your library at these low prices. Confessing, that I did! No, you don’t want to know.
Maybe not? Well, frugal folks can shop the Sunday afternoon, October 25, sale. Hold on to your hat! This is the drill. The Friends provide a box which you can fill for $15. Only one box to a customer on Sunday, but what a bargain! Challenge yourself to see how many items you can squeeze into the nice-sized box.
I worked the checkout table this morning–rain and shine. No need to worry about the rain, as it’s cozy and dry in the two large rooms where you’ll be doing your shopping. Books are shelved by topic, i.e., fiction, mysteries, children, travel, religion, biography, etc. It’s a breeze to get in and out. The only negative may be reaching for that special book only to have another avid shopper with longer arms reaching for it at the same time. Seldom if ever happens, but just want to warn you.
Shopping baskets are available, or you can bring your own bags. The Friends furnish you with carry away boxes when you check out. Help is available to load your haul into your car. Strong volunteers will be there to assist with the loading, but you’re on your own when you get home.
Loving this rain that makes for good reading times.
Hope to see you at the book sale. Just so you know, the proceeds from your purchases go to help the Fort Worth Public Library. You’re doing a good deed by giving these books a home and helping the Library make other purchases.
Choosing from thousands of books, CDs, DVDs, and audio and children’s books is the hardest part of this book sale experience. Throw caution to the wind, swipe your card, or surrender your cash with no guilt. These buys are items that you can cuddle up with as we move into cooler days and nights. Sweet!
