Oh, the joy of living in beautiful Fort Worth, Texas, where a person can enjoy cultural, educational, and social events. It’s something of a rarity that all three are combined into one event, but the University Evening (for both local college students and faculty) at the Kimbell Museum of Fine Art this afternoon is such an occasion. Find your way to the Kimbell Art Museum – 3333 Camp Bowie Boulevard Fort Worth, TX 76107 – View Map
Click on the preceding link (View Map) to get to the registration page.

You do need to preregister and print out your registration to get into the free event. Since Annie is taking a great creative writing class at Tarrant County College’s Trinity River Campus, she is able to attend as a college student.

Beginning at 5:00 PM and running for two hours,  you can enjoy an event that is inspired by two special exhibitions now at the Museum:

Gustave Caillebotte: The Painter’s Eye
Castiglione: Lost Genius. Masterworks on Paper from the Royal Collection

The following events Annie cut and pasted from a message received from the Kimbell (see below). The guided tours, active workshops, scavenger hunt, free snacks and drinks, film, and gained knowledge are certainly worth a two hour time investment.

Guided tours — Learn about this Impressionist’s unique vision for picturing modern life @ Gustave Caillebotte: The Painter’s Eye 5–6:15 PM

Mixed-media collages — Create bridge and window scenes inspired by Caillebotte’s iconic images@ Education studios 5–7 PM

Block-out word poems — Compose your response to Castiglione’s dramatic scenes @ Castiglione: Lost Genius. Masterworks on Paper from the Royal Collection 5–7 PM

(Re)name that Masterpiece — Invent new titles for famous painted views of Paris streets @ Lobby 5–7 PM

Team scavenger hunt — Earn art-smart bragging rights with your friends and classmates @ Gustave Caillebotte: The Painter’s Eye
5–6:30 PM; winners will be announced at 6:45 PM

Film — Castiglione: Rogue Genius of the Baroque (2013, 25 min.)
@ Downstairs foyer 5–7 PM

Will you select only a few things or try to do most of them? No matter. It will be a fun time.
