Friday is Y Luncheon

My, oh, my, another month has passed. Time  does seem to fly. Our new month of March gives us another chance to fully live our lives. One of the best ways to begin a month is with present and potential friends at Fort Worth’s downtown YMCA.

Meet together March 5 at 11:30 AM for the potluck lunch. The theme for Friday’s lunch is a rather unique one–“Texas Independence with a St. Patrick’s Flair.”

Texas Independence Day is the celebration of the declaration of the Texas independence from Mexico on March 2, 1836. After the adoption of the Texas Declaration of Independence, settlers in Mexican Texas officially broke from Mexico, creating the Republic of Texas. In the State of Texas, Texas Independence Day is an official holiday.

Saint Patrick’s Day, or the Feast of Saint Patrick (Irish: Lá Fhéile Pádraig, “the Day of the Festival of Patrick”), is a cultural and religious celebration held on 17 March, the traditional death date of Saint Patrick (c. AD 385–461), the foremost patron saint of Ireland.

I’ve heard that we going to have pulled pork sliders, ranch-style beans, coleslaw, and green-frosted cupcakes. Please bring a dish to share that will feed 8-10 people. There may be some games played after the meal. What fun!

Annie Ambles looks forward to the potluck lunch
